Update on Communication in the Tigray Region

Communications remain cut to most of the Tigray Region.  However, today the U.S. Embassy received information that cell phone service, but not wi-fi/internet, has been restored in parts of western Tigray, including the towns of Dansha, Humera, and Maikadra.  The Government of Ethiopia reports it continues to work to restore service elsewhere in the Region.
The U.S. Embassy does not have any means of communicating with American citizens who remain without cell service in the Tigray Region.   The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) set up a hotline to support those searching for their family members in Tigray together with the Ethiopian Red Cross.  Anyone searching for his or her family member should call the ICRC hotline at +251 94 312 2207 or email at add_tracing_services@icrc.org, or the Ethiopian Red Cross at +251 11 552 7110.  This may provide a means to make contact with family.
