The ACS Unit is open to the public Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed on U.S. and Ethiopian holidays.

If you have a question about non-emergency services like the status of a passport application or Social Security benefits, please send an email to AddisACS@State.gov. We make every effort to respond to all email within 48 business hours.

In an emergency involving an American citizen after normal business hours, please contact the Embassy at 011 130-6000.

Visiting U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa

Please show up to your appointment on time. Applicants more than 15 minutes late to their appointments will not be seen and will have to schedule another appointment. Applicants who are more than 30 minutes early for their appointments will have to wait until their scheduled time to be seen. No exceptions are made.
