
Gondar, November 8, 2013: On her first official trip outside of Addis Ababa, U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia Patricia Haslach visited Gondar from November 7 to 8.
Ambassador Haslach met with Mayor Getnet Amara and Zone Administrator Gizat Abiyu. She also met with officials at Gondar University and with female university students for a discussion on challenges and opportunities that young women face.
During her visit to the University, Ambassador Haslach visited the Anti-Retroviral Therapy Clinic, the Comprehensive Outpatient Center (under construction) and the Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis Ward, all supported with funding from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and USAID.

The Ambassador visited the Tsadiku Yohannes School, supported by the U.S. Government through USAID-funded materials and training. She donated a package of school supplies as part of the program.
