The American Citizen Services unit at the U.S. Embassy continues to work to ensure all American citizens in Ethiopia have the opportunity to renew their passport before the summer travel season, while still complying with strict COVID-19 mitigation measures. To that end, we have opened over 400 passport renewal appointments in the month of April 2021. Fewer appointments will be available June through August, so check your passport expiration date and make an appointment now!
Given the priority for American passport renewals, will be unable to provide other services during these appointment hours, such as Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) or a notarial service. CRBA appointments in April are already full but we will open more appointments on a rolling basis during the summer.
If you need a DS-3053 “Consent for Issuance of a Passport to a Minor under 16” please email us at AddisACS@state.gov with proof of the minor’s appointment in the United States. Due to restrictions on staffing and the number of people in our waiting room due to COVID-19 mitigation procedures, we cannot provide any other notarial or authentication services at this time.
The last year has been an unprecedented worldwide crisis. We look forward to returning to normal. However, for now, we will continue to provide limited services in line with our COVID-mitigation measures for your safety. We appreciate your patience.
