The Department of State has issued all available diversity visas for the 2023 Diversity Visa (DV) Program. The DV Program is limited by law to issuing approximately 55,000 visas each fiscal year and that cap was reached on September 6, 2023.
We acknowledge that the conclusion of the 2023 program may be disappointing to selectees who were unable to receive a visa. The 2025 Diversity Visa Program entry period will open in early October 2023. If you were not selected for the Diversity Visa Program this year, you are welcome to reapply in future program years.
As communicated throughout the DV process, selection does not guarantee that an applicant will receive a visa interview or a visa. Selection merely means that the person may be eligible to participate in the Diversity Visa Program and may have a chance to apply for a visa. Due to the probability that some of the first 55,000 persons selected will not qualify for visas or ultimately choose not to participate in the program, more individuals are selected to participate in the program each year than visas available. This is done to increase the likelihood that no visa goes unused.
The U.S. Department of State remains committed to facilitating travel for individuals from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States and recognizes the important contributions diversity brings to our communities and the impact on the U.S. economy.
