Alert: Potential Relocation of American Citizens from Mekelle

Military activity continues in the ​Tigray Region and telephone and internet access in the Region remain cut.  U.S. citizens in Tigray should shelter in place.  The U.S. Embassy is working on potential relocation plans for U.S. citizens in Mekelle.  If you are a U.S. citizen in Tigray with satellite access or you have ​a U.S. citizen family ​member who you believe is in Mekelle, and you have not provided us your relative’s name and contact information before, please contact us immediately at AddisACS@state.gov with the following information:

a. U.S. citizen’s full name and date of birth;

b. The U.S. citizen’s U.S. passport number, if known;

c. The U.S. citizen’s last known location

Please note that we cannot guarantee that a relocation will actually take place, nor when that may happen.

If you have ​American family or friends in other parts of the Tigray Region and you have not contacted the American Citizen Services unit of the Embassy, please provide the above information on that  U.S. citizen at AddisACS@state.gov.
