Alert: Potential Relocation of American Citizens from Mekele

Telephone and internet access in the Tigray Region remains cut.  U.S. citizens in Tigray should shelter in place.  The U.S. Embassy is working on potential relocation plans for U.S. citizens in Mekele.  If you are a U.S. citizen in Tigray with satellite access or you have  a U.S. citizen family  member who you believe is in Mekele, and you have not provided us your relative’s name and contact information before, please contact us immediately at AddisACS@state.gov with the following information:

  1. U.S. citizen’s full name and date of birth;
  2. The U.S. citizen’s U.S. passport number, if known;
  3. The U.S. citizen’s last known locationand contact information

Please note that we cannot guarantee that a relocation will actually take place, nor when that may happen. However, U.S. citizens who wish to leave Mekele should approach any UN facility as soon as possible to inquire about the possibility of joining departing UN convoys, or to request information about safe routes out of Tigray.

If you have  American family or friends in other parts of the Tigray Region and you have not contacted the American Citizen Services unit of the Embassy, please provide the above information on that  U.S. citizen at AddisACS@state.gov.
